The perpetuation of gunmaking know-how
Each Alexandre Coratella weapon is handcrafted with the care and precision usually reserved to pieces of jewelry or artworks. It combines age-old expertise to the high performance of the techniques and knowledge of today.
The perfect alloys
The raw materials (bronze, titanium and stainless steel alloys) are sourced from the best foundries of the world. Our selection process and our high internal requirements exceed the industry standards. All of our alloys are analyzed, tested and x-rayed, and have a material test certificate that ensures their lifetime tracking.
Our titanium alloys contain 90% of titanium. According to the French law (Law of 8 March 1935 on bronze artworks), bronze, an alloy of copper and tin, must contain at least 65% of copper. We chose to use exclusively a hard bronze alloy with 85% copper that can withstand brutal shocks.
Our stainless steels are marine grade and resistant to corrosion and rust.

The manufacturing process: the best of machine and man
Some steps of the manufacturing of the parts require computer-controlled tools that ensure a machining precision on the order of one hundredth of millimeter (1/100).
Conversely, the assembly, the fitting and the finish require highly qualified human skills. Such manual operations account for several dozens of hours for an entire piece of artillery.
Testing and guarantees
Once the artillery gun has been fully manufactured, an International Permanent Commission (CIP, a state-supervised body) Proof House conducts pressure tests on the weapon: the cannon must withstand a black powder load service pressure of 1200 bars.
Our firearm expertise is guaranteed by the ISO 9001 standard (quality management) and the ISO 9100 standard (aviation, space and defense). The European standard ISO EN 9100 is also known as AS 9100 in the Americas and JISQ 9100 in Asia-Pacific.
The quality standards also apply to the artillery gun packaging : the relevant materials comply with the ISPM 15 international standard.
Marking (punch - crown) attesting to the passage to the CIP proof house. Cannon resistance: 1200 bars - 17.400 psi
Maximum black powder charge : 8 grams - 123 grains. Maximum mass of the projectile : 35 grams - 540 grains
